Note #12

Since being here in Louisiana for a few months now, I have learned a few things.

1. A shopping cart is called a buggy. Even when you are talking to a high ranking air man or whoever, they still call it a buggy. It makes me think of a little kid begging for a ride every time i hear it.

2. Garages (when you do see them) are all different colors. No two garages are the same. Usually out here they match the shutters. it makes me think of the whole shoes matching the purse rule and i don't really get that either.

3. Any kind of payment is called a "note" house note, car note, etc.

4. This i learned while furniture shopping. Matching bedroom furniture is referred to as "suits" the long dresser with mirror is called a dresser and the tall dresser with 5 or 6 drawers is called a "chest of drawers"

5. Southern Hospitality is a real thing. people out here are very friendly and genuinely interested when they ask questions about you or where your from or how your doing. its so nice and i have made some amazing friends out here! im grateful for this opportunity to be here and i know no matter what happens, everything will be okay.

This brings me to other news. my husband received and email from his commanding officer to go to Guam as a personal favor to him because he is such a hard worker, and to consider himself first draft. He replied letting him know about our honeymoon, 2 of his siblings are getting married and other reasons but i'm not holding out much hope. if he leaves it will be the first week of August and will be gone for about 6 months. im nervous for him to leave, but at least i have a few close friends out here and can always go home to Utah if i need to. im hoping for the best. and if there are any other military wives out there who can give any advice on how to deal with deployment while being 2,000 miles away from any kind of family and friends, it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
